Healing with God’s Love, Serving with Excellence   The crown jewel of Healing Guatemala’s Medical Ministry is Hospital Bethesda. Hospital Bethesda is a full-service general hospital, providing expert care in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OBGYN, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Radiology, Anesthesiology, Odontology, and more. With a CT scanner, an X-ray, a clinical lab, a pharmacy, operating rooms, 24/7 delivery and urgent care, we are committed to patient-centered healthcare with excellence.

 

Hospital Bethesda is dedicated to making healthcare accessible and affordable for all. Recognizing the financial challenge faced by many Guatemalans, particularly the Mayan indigenous people, Bethesda offers healthcare services at about half the cost of private hospitals in the region. In addition to this, Hospital Bethesda organizes annual events such as Cataract Camp, OBGYN camps, etc, providing essential care at a minimal fee. These initiatives ensure that even the most vulnerable individuals receive the vital healthcare they deserve.

Medical Ministry



Healing Guatemala’s Medical Ministry is committed to delivering essential healthcare services with a focus on excellence, affordability, and accessibility, all while embodying God’s love in the lives of the Guatemalan people. Our mission encompasses three core components: Hospital Bethesda, Mobile Clinics, and the Medical and Dental Scholarship Program, each designed to meet the diverse health needs of our communities.

MOBILE CLINICS

Our Mobile Clinics play a vital role in bridging the healthcare gap for rural communities, bringing medical, dental, and ophthalmological services directly to those who need them most. By organizing approximately 20 to 30 mobile clinics annually in partnership with short-term medical mission teams, local churches, and municipalities, we ensure that even the most isolated populations receive the care they deserve. Every service provided at these clinics is offered free of charge, significantly enhancing access to healthcare for impoverished communities. Through these efforts, Healing Guatemala not only delivers vital medical care but also fosters a sense of hope and dignity among those we serve, demonstrating that everyone is worthy of care and compassion.

MEDICAL AND DENTAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The Medical and Dental Scholarship Program at Healing Guatemala is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of compassionate and skilled healthcare professionals who are committed to serving their communities through Healing Guatemala. Our mission is not only to provide financial support but also to instill a sense of purpose and faith in these future doctors and dentists, ensuring that Healing Guatemala’s presence and impact remain strong for years to come.

 

Each year, Healing Guatemala selects approximately 2-3 deserving students enrolled in medical or dental school and offers them scholarships coupled with spiritual mentoring throughout their academic journey. This holistic approach empowers our scholarship recipients to excel academically while grounding them in the values of service and compassion. Upon completing their residency, these graduates are expected to return to Hospital Bethesda, where they will not only provide essential healthcare services but also share the love of God with their patients as a family member of Healing Guatemala.

 

As of 2025, we are proud to have 13 students enrolled in our Medical and Dental Scholarship Program, and we celebrate the recent graduation of four dedicated medical doctors who are now equipped to make a difference in the lives of countless Guatemalans. By investing in the education and spiritual growth of these individuals, Healing Guatemala is ensuring that the cycle of care and compassion continues, fostering a healthier future for the entire community.

Food Ministry

The Food Ministry is committed to addressing the critical issues of acute malnutrition and food insecurity that affect families struggling to provide for themselves. In response to the heightened need during the pandemic, we successfully distributed essential basic grains to 20,000 families, ensuring that many did not go hungry during such a challenging time. Our dedication did not stop there; we continue to provide vital food assistance to 1,000 families annually who are teetering on the edge of starvation.

 

Through our tireless efforts, we aim to alleviate hunger and restore dignity to those in our community who are most vulnerable. By working closely with local partners and volunteers, we ensure that our food distribution is efficient and impactful, reaching those who need it most. Each bag of food represents not just sustenance, but also hope and a reminder that they are not forgotten. Together, we are fostering a community where every family has access to the nourishment they need to thrive.

Scholarship Ministry

The Scholarship Ministry is dedicated to breaking the cycle of generational poverty by providing scholarships, after-school classes, and spiritual mentoring to children in Chuisajcaba, a region profoundly affected by economic hardship. Our mission is to empower these young minds with the education and support they need to build brighter futures for themselves and their families.


Before the pandemic, we proudly supported approximately 90 scholarship students, each with dreams and aspirations that deserved to be nurtured. Although the challenges of recent years have reduced our numbers to around 40 currently enrolled students, we remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring they receive the educational resources and mentorship essential for their growth.


Through our comprehensive program, we not only provide financial assistance but also create a supportive environment where students can thrive academically and spiritually. By investing in their education and personal development, we are not just offering a lifeline; we are cultivating future leaders who will uplift their communities and contribute to lasting change. Together, we can continue to make a significant impact in the lives of these children, helping them rise above their circumstances and fulfill their potential.
