Thank you for considering a short-term mission trip to Healing Guatemala. We are thrilled to host your team and assist you in realizing your visions and goals in our beautiful country.
At Healing Guatemala, we understand that this mission is ultimately God’s mission, not ours. Although we cannot fulfill every aspect of His work, we strive to reflect His love and purpose through our service to the people of Guatemala. Through our various initiatives—be it mobile clinics, construction projects, or children’s ministry—we aim to demonstrate God’s presence in tangible ways, reminding the local community that they are cherished and not forgotten.
Your team has the opportunity to engage in four key areas: rural mobile medical clinics, rural mobile dental clinics, surgical operations at Hospital Bethesda, and construction projects at our facilities. Through the mobile medical and dental clinics, we reach remote communities where access to healthcare is limited. Your team will provide essential medical and dental services, along with necessary medications and treatments, all free of charge. Additionally, at Hospital Bethesda, your team can perform surgeries, either by screening candidates upon arrival or by working with pre-recruited patients. A nominal fee is charged to participants to avoid creating dependency. Moreover, we invite your team to assist with construction efforts as Healing Guatemala expands its facilities. This growth will create more opportunities for collaboration with short-term mission teams, enhancing our ability to serve the community effectively.
The cost for a mission trip varies based on its duration, team size, and the type of ministry involved, excluding airfare to Guatemala. We ask for $80 per day per team member, which covers in-country transportation, logistics, meals, lodging at Bethesda, Wi-Fi access, and filtered water. Please note that if your team chooses to dine outside (or meals on the way between the airport and Bethesda) or requires hotel accommodations, those costs will be the team’s responsibility. Additionally, the daily fee does not include interpreters (approximately $20 per day) or project materials and supplies.
Hospital Bethesda takes great pride in hosting surgical teams and individual surgeons who are eager to make a difference. Your team will stay at our facility while performing surgeries according to your specialties. Many patients in Guatemala require surgical interventions but cannot afford the costs, even with our significantly lower rates compared to other private hospitals in the region. Your participation will not only provide essential care but will also serve as a tremendous blessing to the local communities.
We encourage your team to engage with Bethesda’s surgical staff, who are enthusiastic about learning the latest advancements in surgical techniques. This collaboration fosters growth and knowledge exchange, enriching both your team and our local professionals.
Hospital Bethesda offers two separate, fully equipped operating suites for your use. Please note that there may be some traffic in the operating suites, as our hospital will also be conducting its own surgeries during your visit. You are welcome to bring your own anesthesiology personnel, or we can arrange for local anesthesiologists upon request.
To ensure that your team can operate legally in Guatemala, we will facilitate the issuance of the necessary medical permits through the Colegio de Médicos y Cirujanos de Guatemala. Additionally, if you plan to bring medications or supplies, we can help arrange customs clearance permits in advance. We will provide you with information on the required documents and further details regarding these permits upon request.
We look forward to partnering with you in this vital mission to improve healthcare in Guatemala!
We invite you to make a meaningful impact by donating medical equipment and supplies to Hospital Bethesda. As an organization in its dynamic growth phase, Hospital Bethesda is passionately reaching out to the community and expanding its capabilities to provide essential healthcare. Your generous donations will significantly enhance our ability to deliver comprehensive medical care to those in need.
We are currently seeking medical and surgical equipment in the following areas: Ophthalmology, OBGYN, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Dental Clinic, Clinical Laboratory, Radiology, and more. Please ensure that any equipment donated is less than 10 years old to guarantee optimal functionality and safety.
If you have equipment to contribute to Healing Guatemala, we would love to hear from you. Your support can transform lives and help us provide the highest quality care to the communities we serve.
Just as a loving foster parent nurtures their adopted children until they flourish, you have the opportunity to adopt a clinic or project at Hospital Bethesda, helping it to thrive and grow. As a general hospital with multiple medical and surgical departments, Bethesda is uniquely positioned to make a significant impact on the community.
By adopting a clinic or project, you can provide invaluable guidance and support, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to maximize our outreach and effectiveness. Your expertise and compassion can help shape the future of healthcare in Guatemala, allowing us to enhance the services we offer and better meet the needs of our patients.
Join us in this transformative journey, and together we can make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve.
As Hospital Bethesda strives towards becoming a self-sustaining institution, we need your financial support. While we request a minimal monetary contribution from each patient, this approach serves two vital purposes: first, it helps ensure that Bethesda will have a chance to achieve financial sustainability, and second, it prevents dependency among those we serve. However, there is still a considerable journey ahead to achieve full self-sustainability.
In addition, Hospital Bethesda is excited to announce plans for an expansion that includes a new six-story building. This facility will feature an elevator, increased space for emergency and operating rooms, and specialized clinics such as hemodialysis. Your financial contributions are crucial for this growth and for the ongoing management of Hospital Bethesda. Together, we can continue to provide abundant care and support to our brothers and sisters in Guatemala.
At the heart of our mission lies the power of prayer. Without prayer, even the smallest steps forward can feel insurmountable. We have learned that our best intentions do not always align with God’s will, and actions taken without divine guidance can sometimes lead to unintended harm. Your prayers are essential for us to fulfill the call of the Holy Spirit. We humbly ask you to continue lifting Healing Guatemala in your prayers, so that we may serve the community in accordance with His will and purpose!
